On-Line Algorithms of Stride-Parameter Estimation for in-Shoe Motion-Sensor System

We propose two on-line algorithms for stride parameter estimation an in-shoe motion-sensor system (IMS) system: one segmentation based on stable foot-flat detection using foot-sole angle and the other a three-dimensional zero-velocity-update accurate parameterization. developed small lightweight IMS device, which consists of inertial measurement unit, micro control peripheral electrical components, integrated with insole so that it can be placed inside shoe at arch foot. Stride parameters, i.e., length, walking speed, foot height, circumduction, peak sole in dorsiflexion plantarflexion directions, toe-in $/$ out angle, characterize user’s motion are estimated. recruited 30 healthy participants evaluated precision our by comparing parameters calculated this those acquired from motion-capture system. The results indicate terms root mean square error length 0.069 m, speed 0.094 notation="LaTeX">$\text{m}/\text{s}$ , height 1.5 cm, circumduction 1.0 3.3 deg. directions 5.9 deg., 2.5 Our has good regarding all high reliability promises to contribute personal health wellness services solutions serving as powerful practical tool objective gait assessment real-world contexts.
